Getting Exploring CS into Your School

If you would like to get Exploring Computer Science (ECS) offered at your school, please read through the steps on this page. If you have questions, an FAQ is provided here.

Upcoming Workshop

  • When: Saturday, October 26th
  • Where: Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah ( HWAC, room 354 )
  • Time: 9:30 am to 4:00 pm
  • Things to Know:

    1. For those that will need a laptop, we have a few available that can be used. If you need to borrow a laptop, please let us know as soon as possible.

    2. Parking will be free.

    3. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

    4. Housing is available for those driving more than two hours.

    5. Mileage reimbursements will be provided for those driving more than 25 miles.

    6. Please have your groups Scratch lesson prepared before the Saturday workshop.

 

The Scratch assignments for each group:

Lehi (Gordon, Michael, Natalie): Moving Sprites- Unit 4 (Days 5-6)

Online (Cory, Linda, Preston, Shawn): Broadcasting- Unit 4 (Day 9)

Provo (Chad, Gary, Jacob, Pat): Dialogue- Unit 4 (Day 4)

Salt Lake (Frank, Lars, Nicole): Peer Reviews- Unit 4 (Days 10-13)

Spring / Winter (Kim, Jeff, Lynne, Mark, Vaughn): Name Project- Unit 4 (Days 2-3)

Parking and Directions

Westminster College is located at 1840 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84105.

Here are directions to Westminster College:

  • Most people should take exit 126 off I-80 (which is 1300 East) and drive north on 1300 East.
  • Turn left at the light for 1700 South.
  • Turn left at approximately 1200 East and follow the road into parking structure under the playing field (marked as C on this map).
  • Take the southeast entrance (up the stairs) to the Dolores Eccles Health, Wellness and Athletic Center, which is building 12 on the Westminster campus map.
  • Turn left at the top of the stairs. We are meeting in room 354 in HWAC. It is the same room and the same building as the summer workshop.
