A bit of the Frieze that Lord Elgin took from the pediment of the Parthenon and is now in the Britism Museum. (Photo by M.Markowski) Carvings such as this one (about 4 ft by 6 ft) adorned the Parthenon. The details were probably not entirely visible from the ground, yet the perfection of this piece -- a bit of 'freeze-action' in the Frieze -- shows the Greek delight in nature (the muscles of the horse are still very clear), the bits of clothing flying in the wind, and most of all, the physical form of the human caught in a moving moment of time.
