Non-Copyright or Permissions Statement

The files and photographs within the sites at Westminster College, e.g., Hybrid History or World History,  are either in the Public Domain or have originated with me, e.g., the course Outlines, notes, the photo-essays or, as with the Letter to Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, the translation is my own work from a thirteenth century manuscript. With reference to the original languages, I have modernized the language of some Public Domain materials, as in these snippets of Rawlinson's Herodotos.

Following a policy of free and open usage of educational materials (as far as I am concerned), anyone may copy any of these files, photos or pieces of art for educational or personal use. It is my belief that a great deal of work by educators can be saved from oblivion, and moreover, used much more widely by posting on the Internet. I welcome such sharing and retain no control or rights over my own work posted on the Internet, and ask only that if you do download or otherwide use this material, please e-mail me and let me know in order that I might satisfy my own desire to be useful. E-Mail me at the following address, or click on it:

mmarkowski@westminstercollege.edu

You may well find that my work needs refinement, or that errors (in translation, conception, omission etc.) exist. Please alert me to your suggestions and/or improvements so that I may consider them. We can all benefit from this approach.

In good faith, I have tried never to violate the copyrights of others. To my knowledge, no items were posted on any of my web-pages in violation of a stated copyright. Still, if you believe I have violated your rights, contact me at the above E-Mail address and I will do whatever is necessary, i.e., remove the material or gain the necessary permissions.

The Internet can provide a sort of "immortality" to the work of educators by spreading what might otherwise be lost in one's notes after (or before) retirement. And if the study of World Religions can suggest anything, it is the idea that immortality may or may not come with a price to be paid, but never with the promise of royalty checks -- paid or collected!

I wish us all well in the Life of the Mind & Spirit.

Michael Markowski
