Presentations

Papers due on the last class day will also form the basis of class presentations -- double duty. These will examine any one person, place, thing or idea that either: is counter-cultural and the inquiry will show how it is counter-cultural, to what extent, how it came to be and then developed; or, is NOT counter-cultural, although here you would need to pick a topic that is normally thought to be counter-cultural like Francis of Assisi or a Reformation movement -- then show is essential banal conformity. This needs to remain short -- about 4 pages, under 5 minutes to present in class.

For example, these inquiries can deal with the usual (Martin Luther, the Puritans, Abelard, Christine de Pisan) or the unusual (Hippie Jesus movement, music, Christian communes).
