The Popol Vuh tells the origins of a wide variety of things--from the sun to monkeys. The Popol Vuh describes the creation of the earth and the gods' three attempts at making man. The Popol Vuh was known among the Mayans through oral tradition much like Homer's Odyssey. They would sing and dance to the stories and most knew them by heart. The myths within the Popol Vuh contain morals that guided the Mayans. B. TOPICAL ESSAY: THE MAYANS: PEACEFUL OR WARLIKE? C. CHRONOLOGY OF POPOL VUH MANUSCRIPT F.
