EVE ENSLER'S
"THE VAGINA
MONOLOGUES"
As part of
the V-Day 2009 Campaign, the students of Westminster College, Salt Lake
City are proud to present a benefit production of "The Vagina
Monologues" to raise awareness and funds for the Salt Lake City Rape
Recovery Center, a local organization working to end violence against
women and girls.
WESTMINSTER
STUDENTS URGE MEMBERS OF THE SALT LAKE COMMUNITY TO JOIN IN CELEBRATING
WOMEN AND RAISNG FUNDS TO END SEXUAL VIOLENCE
Salt Lake City,
Utah- Joining with communities and colleges across the country,
students at Westminster College will come together to increase
community awareness and raise funds against sexual violence.
Westminster College students will present their annual production of
Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues.” The production will open on
Thursday, Feb. 5 and will run through Saturday Feb. 7 in the Vieve Gore
Concert Hall located on the campus of Westminster College (1840 South
1300 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84105). Ticket prices are $10. All
proceeds will benefit the Salt Lake City Rape Recovery Center and the
women currently struggling to overcome violence in the Democratic
Republic of the Congo.

Last year, thanks
to the generous support of the Salt Lake community, Westminster College
raised nearly $12,000 benefiting the Salt Lake City Rape Recovery
Center. Concessions and a silent auction at the productions of "The
Vagina Monologues" will also benefit the Salt Lake City Rape Recovery
Center. The Clothesline Project, a visual representation of victims of
sexual and domestic violence, will also be displayed during the shows.
Other events of
interest include self-defense classes (1/27 and 1/30), a clothing drive
fundraiser
(2/3), a Congo
teach-in (1/26), and a V-Men discussion (2/6), all
hosted at Westminster College.

| The V-Day Mission |
|
V-Day is an organized
response against violence toward women.
V-Day is a
vision: We see a world where women live safely and freely.
V-Day is a
demand: Rape, incest, battery, genital mutilation and sexual slavery
must end now.
V-Day is a
spirit: We believe women should spend their lives creating and thriving
rather than surviving or recovering from terrible atrocities.
V-Day is a
catalyst: By raising money and consciousness, it will unify and
strengthen existing anti-violence efforts. Triggering far-reaching
awareness, it will lay the groundwork for new educational, protective,
and legislative endeavors throughout the world.
V-Day is a
process: We will work as long as it takes. We will not stop until the
violence stops.
V-Day is a
day. We proclaim Valentine's Day as V-Day, to celebrate women and end
the violence.
V-Day is a
fierce, wild, unstoppable movement and community. Join us!
